Maracaibo is nicknamed as “La Tierra del Sol Amada” (The Land that the Sun Loves); today almost 1.300.000 of people live in Maracaibo.
Venezuela’s second largest city, Maracaibo is located in the shores of the Maracaibo’s lake, it is also the capital of the Zulia state. The old town was restored nicely.
Maracaibo is a big metropolitan city divided in two municipalities: to the North the Municipality of Maracaibo and to the South the San Francisco Municipality.
The city offers great nightlife with a diversity of nightclubs. In the main street you will find many cafès, and large shopping centre as Doral Centre Mall, Galerias Mall located in the shores of the lake.
