Ciudad Bolivar, capital of the State of Bolivar, is located in Venezuela. Situated along the Orinoco River, Ciudad Bolivar borders the Raul Leoni Municipality in the south. With a population of around 338,200 inhabitants, the city serves as an important port.
The city experiences a mild subtropical climate characterized by a dry and a wet season. The city experiences great amounts of rainfall during the wet season, while droughts are quite common during the dry season.
Initially known as Angostura, the city was renamed in 1846. The city, which previously occupied a different site, was then transferred to the narrowest part of the Orinoco River in 1764.
Agriculture and animal husbandry are the most popular money-earning sectors. Tourism, commerce, services and the communications industries are also important sectors.
