When in Paihia, make sure you visit the beaches. Apart from the picturesque beauty, they also offer a lot of options for adventure sports such as swimming, surfing, sea kayaking and snorkelling. There are also a number of walking tracks in Paihia that are ideal for exploration.
Also visit Te Waimate Mission Station, a Georgian-style architectural masterpiece and the second oldest building in New Zealand. Other places that merit a visit include Saint Paul’s Church, the first church in New Zealand, the Waitangi National Reserves, with a rare collection from New Zealand’s glorious past, and the Kauri Museum.
Kerikeri, at a little distance from Paihia, is famous for its orchards, wineries and art galleries. Also of interest are the Hararu Falls, Cape Brett and ‘Hole in the Rock’.
