Tourist guide Bora bora

The Pearl of the Pacific’, Bora Bora is one of the Society Islands of French Polynesia. The island is surrounded by a lagoon and a reef and is centred on an extinct volcano, Mount Otemanu.

The population of the island is about 7,250 residents. It was settled by Tongan people in the fourth century. In 1777, James Cook led the first group of Europeans to the island.

Characterized by a tropical climate, Bora Bora has two seasons. The wet season, or the Polynesian summer, is between the months of November and April. With plenty of rainfall, the hottest months are February and March. The dry season, or the Polynesian winter, from May to October is known as the ‘on season’ for tourism.

The island’s economy primarily depends on tourism. >The public transport of the island is limited; most tourists’ preferred mode of transport is bicycles.
