The Savarekareka Mission, the first Roman Catholic chapel on the Vanua Levu Island, still exists. The Copra Shed is used by the marina. There are facilities available for lots of sporting activities like sailing, fishing, snowboarding etc. The open-air vegetable market in the centre of town makes for an interesting visit.
One of the main attractions of Savusavu is the geothermal springs. The locals have found an interesting use for the springs cooking. It is not uncommon to find pots of food being cooked over the bubbling waters! The Hot Springs Hotel is the most popular destination with visitors.
There are some picturesque drives that one can undertake in Savusavu, whether it is through the mountains to Labasa or taking the coastal route to Buca Bay. Just off the coast is the Nawi Island known for its world class resort.
