Airlie Beach is a village in Whitsunday Shire in Queensland, Australia. With a small population of 3,017, Airlie Beach is located at a distance of 25 km from Proserpine. It has a mild tropical climate with the average maximum and minimum temperatures being 27°C and 21°C, respectively.
The landscape is an interesting mix of palm beaches, coral reefs, lush greenery and mountains. Airlie Beach lies near the centre of the Great Barrier Reef and thus is a major tourist attraction. It also houses a variety of marine wildlife.
The aboriginal inhabitants of Airlie Beach are the Ngaro and the Gia people who still occupy a major part of the island. Its economy is primarily dependent on the tourism industry.
