Ponca City is located centrally in the American state of Oklahoma in Kay County. Within an area of 50 sq km, this city houses a population of approximately 26,000 people. It is home to some important geographical sites like the Salt Fork and Kaw Lake, which attract tourist in great numbers.
This city was initially inhabited by Native American tribes, mainly people of the Ponca tribe (after whom the city is named). Europeans settled here only by the late nineteenth century.
The petroleum industry forms a major part of the economy of this prospering city. Educational institutions and the service sector also contribute significantly to the city’s economic growth. Ponca City experiences warm summers and cold winters. It has an average winter temperature of nearly –3°C and an average summer temperature of about 33°C.
