Rockefeller Centre
Rating:
|
The Rockefeller Centre is a site which encompasses nineteen buildings of the art deco complex and was leased by John D. Rockefeller in 1929.
There were plans to restore the area including office buildings and a new location for the metropolitan opera, but, instead the area has been developed as a commercial complex instead.
There are several facades, foyers and gardens here and the lower level has a subway, shopping and dining facility.
There is an ice skating rink open till early spring which is then used as a dining place in warmer months.
Top of the rock is a place which offers amazing views of the city including the Chrysler building and the Empire State building.
The Rockefeller Centre has a number of amazing shops selling Japanese books. There is also the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Russian folk art store and Italian leather goods on sale.
