Jefferson is the capital city of Missouri, United States. It is also the county seat of the Cole County. The city gets its name from the third president of America, Thomas Jefferson.
The city, extending east, south and westward from a bluff, forms the geographical centre of Missouri.
Due to the inland location of Missouri, Jefferson experiences humid continental climate with hot summers, where temperature often rises up to 38°C, and cold winters. The mean annual temperature of the city is 13°C.
Having an approximate population of 39,700 inhabitants, the per capita income of the city is $21,618. Majority of the population constitutes of Americans, African Americans, Native American, Asians, Pacific Islanders and other races.
