Gilbert is a well established town, which lies in the County of Maricopa in Arizona State, USA.
The town was founded as the Arizona Eastern Railways’ rail sliding in July 1891. The town then developed around the rail sliding. The land where it was built was the property of William ‘Bobby’ Gilbert, after whom the town was named.
Gilbert was the Hay Capital of the world from 1911 to 1920s.
The town is densely populated with 4,458 people per sq. mile.
According to the 2006 census, the population of the town is 191,517 residents. It is the most populated town in the United States.
Despite its rapid economic growth and rise in population, Gilbert is considered to be a town and not a city.
Like most of Arizona, Gilbert is located in a desert area. Hence, summers are hot while winters are mild.
