The Mojave National Preserve is known for its varied landscape that includes lush green forests, sand dunes, colourful wildflowers, mountains and so on. This national preserve was established in 1994 as the East Mojave Scenic Area.
The Kelso Depot that serves as the visitor centre is the right place to begin the trip with. The rooms at the depot house exhibits from the region giving information about the preserve. The Hole-in-the-Wall Campground at a height of 4, 400 feet is a good place for camping and learning about the neighbouring Mitchell Caverns. The Joshua Trees growing along the Providence Mountain is an amazing sight of scenic beauty. Other places of interest are the Cima Dome, Cinder Cone Lava Beds, Kelso Dunes and the Granite Pass. |
