Parashant National Monument was established on 11 January 2000 and is famous among tourists for its scenic beauty, picturesque canyons, calmness and the diversity of plant and animal life.
Spread across an area of 1,017,000 acres it is a haven for nature lovers. The monument does not have any visitor centre but one should always purchase a map of the region before starting the trip. The national monument has several camping grounds, but they lack most of the basic facilities. Most roads become difficult to access during the monsoon season in July. Mount Trumbull and Mount Dellenbaugh are two important trails for hiking and backpacking. The monument is home to several variety of wildlife like the bighorn sheep, pronghorn, raptors, reptiles, mammals and birds. |
