Pachuca, or Pachuca de Soto, is the capital of Hidalgo in Mexico. Located nearly 100 km north of Mexico City, Pachuca is one of the highest capital cities in the country, reaching an elevation of 2,400 m.
Buses are the best way to get to the city. Both first- and second-class services are available from/to nearby cities. The Mexico City International Airport has comfortable shuttles that reach Pachuca within the hour.
Pachuca is commonly called the Windy City because of its heavy afternoon winds. The average temperature in the city is around 24°C; the semi-cold climate results in moderate weather.
The city, founded in the sixteenth century, has a population of around 320,000 people. It is an important mining centre for gold and silver apart from iron, soap, tools and automobile parts industries.
