Isla Mujeres is a small and beautiful island located off the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in the Caribbean Sea. The island, just 8 km long and 2 km wide, is one of the eight municipalities of Quintana Roo in Mexico.
Cancun International Airport caters to the air needs of the island. There is only one way of accessing Isla Mujeres and that is by a ferry. Ferries leave every half hour from Cancun and Puerto Juarez. You can ease the stress of inland travelling by taking along your own rented car.
Isla Mujeres has a mild tropical climate with average temperatures of around 27°C. July and August are the hottest months with the thermometer pointing at 32°C, while December and January take the mercury down to around 24°C.
A recent census showed the inhabitants of Isla Mujeres to number more than 13,000.
