Sonora, the second largest state in Mexico, is bounded by Arizona, USA and by the Mexican states of Sinaloa, Baja California and Chihuahua. The topography of this region is diverse with deserts, mountain ranges, valleys and a coastline.
The state is mainly populated by Mestizos (mixed indigenous and foreign ancestry), but there are also some Indian tribes such as the Pápagos, Opatas and Yaqui. |
