The Villa Favorita, with its unique art collection and beautifully planned gardens, and the Villa Heleneum, with its collection of artefacts from distant places like Africa and Asia, are worth a visit. The Church of St. Mary of the Angels with its famed frescoes and the baroque-styled Cathedral of St. Lawrence are the other important structures in Lugano.
The Parco Civico, along the border of the lake, is flanked by some important structures like a convention centre, a casino and an art museum. It is also the site for open-air concerts in the summer. The Swiss Miniature Village is a park which houses miniature forms of the important historical monuments of Switzerland.
The city hosts two musical events in the summertime: the Jazz Festival in June and the Blues to Bop Festival in July and August.
