Minorca is an island located in Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. Minorca, a part of the Balearic Islands, is divided into two parts, north and south. This beautiful island has a total population of around 82,000 inhabitants.

During the War of Spanish Succession, Minorca came under the British rule. During this period, Mao was termed as the capital and a naval base was established. The island was finally given back to Spain in 1802 under the Treaty of Amiens.
The culture of Minorca is a blend of British, French and Spanish influences. Craftsmanship including pottery, shoe-making and jewellery are important cultural elements.
