Parc Guell

One of the star attractions of Barcelona is the Parc Güell.
The park, designed by Antoni Gaudí, is located to the north of the Barcelona district. The park was planned and constructed from 1900 to 1914 for Eusebi Güell.
The initial plan was to build the plot into a luxurious villa, but the sale of the house was not as expected. Finally a few years later, the villa was transformed into a public park. Though it was never fully completed, the park was considered as the most pleasant work of Gaudi.
The park covers the hills elegantly with pedestrian paths and is surrounded with gardens amid lush foliage.
While creating the park, Gaudi used unique shapes that synchronized with the landscape. He also added animal-like sculptures, viaducts and curvy ramps.
Since 1984, the Parc Guell has been declared as a monument of world heritage by UNESCO.
