Novi Sad is Serbia’s second largest city and the capital of the northern Vojvodina Province. It is situated on the banks of the Danube River. The city doesn’t have an airport, but is easily accessibly by regular bus services from Belgrade (the Serbian capital) and other European cities and nations. Train rides to the capital offer scenic views along the 80 km journey.

The climate of Novi Sad is continental. Summer brings with it temperatures above 30°C, and winter, which is usually not so severe, can have an average temperature below –2°C; January is the coldest month. Characteristic of the climate in this region is the Kosava winds which blow in from the south-east.

The city has an urban population of more than 215,000 people. It is Serbia’s financial and commercial hub.
