Bucharest is the capital and the largest city of Romania. The 500-year-old city is situated on the banks of the Dambovita River, a branch of the Danube.
The city has a typical continental climate with hot summers (28°C–40°C) and cold winters (reaching below 0°C). June to December is considered an ideal time to visit.
The city is home to around 2 million residents and attracts a constant influx of tourists as a result of its landmarks and scenic heritage.
Apart from being known for its quality of education, Bucharest is also the country’s largest industrial and commercial centre. It is well connected to other Romanian cities and European capitals, and has two airports within city limits. However, if you’re coming from outside Europe, it may be difficult to find an airline that flies directly into Bucharest.
