Pantelleria, a small island of Italy, is situated to the south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea. This island of approximately 7,600 inhabitants is a lush green retreat with beaches and natural geysers.
Pantelleria enjoys a Mediterranean climate and can be visited anytime of the year. Though summers can get quite hot, with the average temperature at 27°C, the winds coming in from the sea provide relief. In fact, the breeze is so powerful that the Arabs named it the ‘Daughter of the Winds’. Winters are warm; rains scarce all year round.
The island of Pantelleria is entirely volcanic in origin as is evident from the several old craters and the caves with natural springs. The Arabs occupied this island for four centuries, and the island still carries the Arabic influence.
