Waterford: Vacations and Tourism

Founded by the Vikings in 914 AD, Waterford is Ireland’s oldest and fifth largest city. The River Suir flows through this city. The land and soil property is of diverse nature. It is mountainous and rocky at places and fertile in some others.

With a moderate Atlantic climate influenced by the Gulf Stream, Waterford receives plenty of sunlight with an average annual temperature of 10°C.

The eighteenth century saw some of the best architecture in the city. The glass-making and ship-building industries developed during the nineteenth century.

With a total population of about 49,000 people, this city is famous the world over thanks to its most valuable product, Waterford Crystal. Fishing, food processing, tanning, toys-making and glass-making, dairy and cattle rearing are the other industries here.
