The market town of Trim on the banks of the River Boyne is situated in County Meath in Ireland. The county has a mild climate with less rainfall and is favourable to many kinds of crops. Trim is therefore abundant with green pastures and has fertile soil.
The first Duke of Wellington, Arthur Wellesley is believed to have been born in this town. A large column dedicated to him was erected here during the British rule, in 1817.Famous writer Jonathan Swift and scientist Sir William Rowan Hamilton have lived here.
Agriculture, though on the decline, is a major occupation in this town of about 6,800 inhabitants. Potatoes and grain are the main crops. Cattle rearing and horse-breeding are also prominent. A sizeable population is also engaged in the services industry in Dublin.
