Tilos is an island from the Dodacanese group of islands; the southernmost group of the Greek islands. This island has a population of around 500 inhabitants. The island has mountainous terrain in the north; the coast is mainly rocky with only a few sandy beaches.
Tilos has a very dry climate. During the hot summers, the winds blowing from the north lower the temperatures to a certain extent. But, it is these same winds that can suddenly make a pleasant winter day very cold.
It is believed that humans made their settlements in Tilos as early as 8000 BC. The island flourished in the early years and had a peaceful existence. After World War II, the population of the island started decreasing rapidly with more and more people migrating to other parts of the world, for work.
