Rhodes: Attractions and more...
The Old Town is one of the best  preserved fortified medieval towns in the world and is included in UNESCO list of Word Heritage Sites.

The early Byzantine city was extended and fortified by the Knights of Saint John in the 14th and 15th centuries creating the medieval city we see today.

Eleven Gates lead to the interior where the knights lived and where the most important Knights Houses can still be seen. The Grand Master’s Palace (14th century) was the headquarters of the leader of the Knights of  Saint John.

Today the Palace is a museum, and its many rooms contain important archaeological finds from ancient and medieval Rhodes.

Walking the cobbled streets of the Old Town visitors can also admire the moat and walls with their ramparts, the Byzantine churches, the mosques, the squares, and the gardens of the houses.

In the new City of Rhodes is the picturesque yacht harbour of Mandraki with the lighthouse tower of St. Nicholas and the three old windmills.
