Mycenae is an archaeological site in the north-eastern region of the Peloponnese in Greece. The ancient city of Mycenae, located above the modern city, lies on the steep slopes of the island of Euboea. It is at a distance of about 90 km south-west from Athens and has Argos in the south and Corinth in the north.
The city has a climate similar to the rest of the region. It experiences typical Mediterranean climate which has hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. The temperature is at an average of 28°C in summers.
The modern town of Mycenae is very sparsely populated with an approximate population of 500 inhabitants. The ancient city of Mycenae is one of the foundational civilisations of Europe. With its well-preserved archaeological remains, today, Mycenae is a favoured tourist destination.
