Crete, located in the East Mediterranean is the largest island in Greece. Around 650,000 inhabitants are housed in this picturesque place. Blessed with a scenic landscape, Crete blends the past and the present culture with much fervour and is also a popular tourist destination.
The city is defined by a temperate climate which is humid owing to the city’s proximity to the sea. Summers can get very hot whereas winters are mild with the snowfall being rare. November to February gets the maximum rainfall.
Historically, Crete was a part of the Minoan civilization and its cultural heritage is evident in the various tombs and palaces which still exist. In recent times, agriculture, farming and tourism have been the main industries.
