St. Pauli is a recreational and amusement centre with several discos, fast food shops, musical theatres and funky places situated in its vicinity.
St. Pauli is a district in the city of Hamburg and is located near the river Elbe close to Hamburg port.
It was previously known by the name Hamburger Berg but later it took its name from the St. Pauli church located here.
The football club, FC St. Pauli, is a popular venue where the inauguration of the FIFI World Cup in 2006 took place.
Previously this area was notorious as a red light district owing to the sailors who spent their time at the brothels in this area.
This place is also associated with the legends of music as the famous band, the Beatles, lived here as did Hans Albers, the great actor and singer.
