Freiburg Cathedral, built in 1513, is a work of art of Gothic architecture which took more than three hundred years to complete. The one hundred and sixteen meters high tower is a beautiful spire which contains a Hosanna bell dating back to 1258, which still rings each Friday at eleven.
Tourists can climb this tower to get splendid views of the Black Forest and Freiburg city.
In the interior of the cathedral you will find the high altar and the Hans Baldung Grien’s Renaissance which depicts the life of Virgin Mary and is the highlight of the structure.
The square on which the cathedral stands is called Munsterplatz which has a number of cafes and shops where people can spend a pleasant evening. Admission inside the cathedral is free; however, there is a fee of 1.5 Euro per adult for climbing the tower.
