Pano Platres, in Cyprus, is located on the Troodos Mountains in the Greek-controlled half of the island country. The mountain range stretches across most of the western half of the island and has Mt. Olympus as its highest peak at 1,952 m. Pano Platres is located at an altitude of 1,200 m above sea level.
While the rest of Cyprus is affected by the Mediterranean heat and humidity, summers are the best time to visit Pano Platres. Spring and autumn see the arrival of a large number of international tourists. April and May are the best months to visit Pano Platres if you plan to walk a lot.
With a population of around 13,400, Pano Platres is not as famous as some of the island’s other towns but attracts its share of tourists, especially those looking for some quiet time with nature.
