Saki, located in a rayon of the same name in Azerbaijan, is situated in the Greater Caucasus mountain range. It is home to a population of about 65,000 inhabitants and possesses a wealth of natural beauty, making it a town with great tourist potential.
Saki is typified by a moderate climate. Summers are hot and dry, while winters are cool and wet with occasional showers. Snow is a rare event in the city with winter temperatures being mild. The rainfall received is scanty and irregular.
Being one of the largest cities among the Alban states in the first century, Saki, initially known as Nukha, has had an eventful history. It has also been famous as a silkworm breeding centre for many centuries. Today, the city’s economy is based on the silk industry and the agricultural sector.
