Escaldes-Engordany is the seventh parish of Andorra. Located in the middle of the country, it shares its borders with La Massana and Encamp in the north, Spain in the east and south, and Andorra la Vella in southwest.
Escaldes-Engordany comprises two villages: the ancient village of Engordany situated in the Solana (sunny-side) and the little village of les Caldes situated in the Obaga (shade-side).
Earlier, Escaldes-Engordany and Andorra La Vella were regarded as a single parish.
However, in 1978, Escaldes-Engordany was awarded a separate entity status due to the abundance of its hot water springs, which make it a much sought after tourist place.
Much like all parishes in Andorra, Escaldes-Engordany also has a temperate climate, with warm summers and cold winters; it rains all year round.
