The parish of St George is named in honour of the patron saint of England and is located in the northeast part of Bermuda. It covers an area of approximately 6.6 square kilometres.
The parish mainly consists of a number of large and small islands that are situated around St George’s Island. The climate is hot and humid, and in summers, the temperature soars up to 30° C. Winters are mild and pleasant with an average temperature of 20° C.
St George has a population of about 3,000 people. More than half the population is of African origin. The culture is a mix of Afro-Caribbean traditions with major English influences. Its proximity to the United States of America has also greatly influenced its culture and traditions.
