The main attraction in Nong Khai is the Sala Kaew Ku (also known as Wat Khaek), a spectacular Buddhist-Hindu sculpture park, housing statues more than 20-m in height. The park also has an inspiring sculpture called The Wheel of Life, depicting the cycle of life.

Luang Pho Phra Sai is the region’s most important image of Buddha and is enshrined within the Wat Pho Chai. This temple is also the host of the Bun Soeng Bang Fai Festival, which is held on the day of the full moon every April.

Another famous festival is the Buddhist Lent Festival, when glowing balls of light called Naga Fireballs rise from the Mekong River and make for a curious sight to watch.

The Phu Thok is a spectacular mountain peak which is home to a temple, while the Than Thip waterfall is a two-tiered waterfall that is best viewed in the monsoon period of June to October. Also visit the Phrathat Bangphua, an ancient pagoda which is 22 km from the town and houses sacred relics of the Lord Buddha.
