Tiberias is a city located along the coastline of the Sea of Galilee in Israel. The city is known to the people as the place where Lord Jesus preached. Rich in its history, it is also referred to as the ‘city of treasures’. Around 30,000 people are housed in this famous holiday resort of north Israel.
Tiberia’s climate is Mediterranean in nature and has a high degree of variance. Winters are cold and wet, while summers are hot and dry. During the monsoons the vegetation is lush and green. Occasional thunderstorms are also experienced.
Tiberia was named after the Roman Emperor Tiberius and was a popular tourist destination even in ancient times for its hot springs. The economy of the city is based on agriculture, fishing and tourism. Also, it is a preferred health resort in the country.
