The city of Daman is located in the Daman district in the Daman and Diu union territory. The city of Daman lies to the north-east of the state of Maharashtra.
It is basically a coastal region with a local airport run by residing public companies. It has no public airport of its own.
The city is elevated at an average height 5m above sea level. According to the 2001 India census the population of the city was 35,743.
Majority of the people residing in Daman are Muslims, Hindus and Christians.
