The Rabindra Bharti Museum of Kolkata was constructed in the 18th century by the grandfather of Rabindranath Tagore and was the home of Rabindranath Tagore. It is an integral part of the University and is an important reserve of the works of Rabindranath and Abanindranath Tagore.
It is located close to Girish Park on Chittaranjan Avenue and is also called as 'Jorashanko Thakurbari.'
In the early years, this Museum was spread over a large area and housed 40 original paintings of Rabindranath Tagore as well as photographs that were donated by the National Library.
The Rabindra Bharati University, after its establishment in 1962, worked towards the promotion of the highest level of education in different fields of Humanities and Performing Arts.
