Paro is a historic town in the Paro Valley of Bhutan. With a populace of over 30,000 inhabitants, it is a beautiful, fast-growing town and the centre of all major activities in the valley. Interestingly, all the construction in the city follows the same form of traditional architecture.
The climate of Paro is variable. Summers are warm and cloudy, at times, whereas winters witness temperatures below freezing point. Autumn is mild with clear skies, while spring is the best season to visit owing to the lush vegetation at the time.
Historically, Paro was the focus of the two trade routes to Tibet, which helped the city grow economically. Today, it is an active economy and has the only international airport in Bhutan, the Paro Airport.
