Mbabane, estimated population 70,000 (2003), is the capital of Swaziland.
The city is built up in the Dlangeni Hills and is located in the northwest of
the country, near the South African border.
Mbabane is the administrative capital of the country while the legislative capital,
Lobamba, is in the south.
The town originated towards the end of the 19th century and by 1902, when the
British took control of the country, it had developed sufficiently to become
the capital of the country.
In 1968, year of the country’s independence, it kept this position.
Today, Mbabane is a bustling busy city full of charm.
