Dakar offers some great beaches, museums and a glimpse of daily urban African life.  The island of Île de Gorée, on the other hand, is an idyllic haven. It once used to be a slave trading station and chronicles the history of the cruel trade.

For a closer look at nature visit the Siné-Saloum delta. Take a pirogue (traditional boat) cruise to the many little islands around. Other popular natural reserves include Bandia, Ferlo Nord, Guembuel, Kalissaye, Ndiael and Popenguine

Senegal is a birdwatchers paradise. Some of the popular reserves include Parc National de Niokolo Koba, Parc National des Oiseaux de Djoudj and Parc National de Basse Casamance.

The country also has some great beaches like the Plage Bel-Air, N'Gor, Toubab Dialao and Yenn; also worth seeing are the beaches in the Cap Skiring and Diembéring. In addition, most of the coastal towns provide great facilities for waterskiing, diving, fishing and kayaking.
