Inhambane is a pretty town in Mozambique with untouched beaches and clear blue water, literally undiscovered by tourists. It is a commercial seaport on Inhambane Bay, connected to the towns of Vilanculous and Beira by a traditional boat service called ‘dhow’.

Owing to its proximity to the Tropic of Capricorn, the weather is extremely humid, with daytime temperatures exceeding 25°C inland; however, the coastal areas remain slightly cooler because of the sea breeze. The city also lies in a cyclone-prone belt.

The inhabitants of Inhambane city number around 50,000. The main industrial activity consists of cashew nut processing, with tourism being one of the major revenue activities.
