Agadir is in southwest Morocco. This costal city is located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains and is home to an estimated 200,000 people.
The city enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with an average temperature of 21C in winter and 32C in summer.
During medieval times, there was only a fishing village here; today Agadir is an important commercial port.
Unfortunately, much of the city was destroyed in a horrific earthquake in 1960. As a result Agadir is a completely modern city, with little African old world charm. The people here are a friendly lot and are mostly of Arab-Berber origins.
