Fajara is one of the oldest resorts on the Atlantic Coast, situated in the country of Gambia, in Africa. It has a population of approximately 12,000 inhabitants. The town is lined with numerous hotels, restaurants, bars and night clubs and is an extremely popular tourist place.
The city is characterised by a tropical climate, with hot, wet summers and dry, cool winters. December to February is the best time to visit this place.
Fajara is a recently developed town. Prior to the latter half of the twentieth century, the region was relatively unknown and was inhabited by indigenous tribes, whose main source of livelihood was fishing. The town was modernized only after Gambian independence from the British Colonial rule and witnessed a boom in its tourism dependent economy with the commencement of mass travel.
